Chris Pratt seemingly confirms Star-Lord will be back soon, as far too many MCU characters face oblivion with post-credits scenes going nowhere

Avengers: Doomsday is shooting soon, which means everyone who’s recently shown up in the MCU is being asked whether they’re in it and Secret Wars or are staying out of the Multiverse Saga’s two-part finale. Now, Chris Pratt is adding fuel to the fire by plainly stating that Star-Lord is nowhere near done yet.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which, if you ask around, is considered the last really good movie Marvel Studios put out before things went off the rails, marked the end for James Gunn’s take on the outer-space superhero group. However, an all-new Guardians of the Galaxy roster quickly emerged and Peter Quill aka Star-Lord was confirmed to come back at some point in the future after he returned to Earth and found out his grandpa was still alive.

Of course, everyone instantly started thinking about Star-Lord officially joining Earth’s Mightiest Heroes the next time an extinction-level event threatened the universe. Well, after his latest appearance in Jimmy Kimmel Live to discuss Netflix’s The Electric State (also directed by the Russo Brothers), that seems very likely.

“Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 was the last time you saw Star-Lord and there was a promise that Star-Lord would return. All I can say is we will make good on that promise. I feel like there’s a Marvel sniper somewhere. I will say no more,” he stated. Needless to say, conversations probably happened long ago and he fully knows what he’s walking into sooner rather than later.

Some might think this was a given, but with recently introduced characters like Eternals or Shang-Chi having a pretty uncertain future ahead of them (though we’re expecting the latter to show up as an Avenger), it seems that no one outside the core characters is safe from being blipped away until the next saga because Marvel Studios (and the target audience) doesn’t have enough time for everything it’s been setting up during the post-Endgame years.

This also extends to TV-only (so far) characters like Moon Knight, who had a notable first season with a solid hook for a potential season 2 but has gone nowhere since early 2022. That hasn’t stopped Marvel from setting up even more story beats that are thrown into the void, such as Channing Tatum’s Gambit maybe coming back at some point.
