The latest news in this saga is that … Butler is back with the Heat and playing.
Previously, teams had learned that Butler would not re-sign with select franchises, meaning all signs were beginning to point toward him landing in Phoenix, the franchise that he would re-sign with, according to reports.
However, as of now, Butler has returned to the Miami lineup after serving a seven-game suspension for “conduct detrimental to the team.”
Since his return, Butler is averaging 13 points in 30.5 minutes per game in two games.
On the season, Butler, 35, is averaging 17.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.7 assists. In his six seasons with the Heat, he has guided Miami to the NBA Finals twice. The Heat lost to the Lakers in 2019-20 and then to the Nuggets in 2022-23.
The Heat currently sit eighth in the Eastern Conference standings.
