Macy Chiasson is out of her bout with Ketlen Vieira.
Chiasson was supposed to face Vieira in a pivotal women’bantamweight matchup next weekend at UFC Seattle, however, on Thursday the promotion announced that Chiasson was forced out of the planned bout due to injury and the fight has been removed from the card.
This is the latest in a string of bout cancellations that have befallen the UFC’s return to Seattle. Last week, former UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz pulled out of a bout with Rob Font and retired from the sport due to injury, and earlier on Thursday news broke that Edson Barboza withdrew from his bout against Steve Garcia due to injury as well. On top of that, a heavyweight contest between Curtis Blaydes and Rizvan Kuniev was moved to the UFC 313 pay-per-view card on March 8.
It’s not all bad news for UFC Seattle though. Along with announcing the Chiasson-Vieira fight cancellation, the promotion also announced a pair of bouts being added to next weekend’s Fight Night card: a light heavyweight contest between Alonzo Menifield and UFC debutant Julius Walker and a middleweight fight between Nursulton Ruziboev and another UFC newcomer Eric McConico.
UFC Seattle takes place Feb. 22 at Climate Pledge Arena and is headlined by a bantamweight contest between former champion Henry Cejudo and Song Yadong.
