Warning! Spoilers ahead for Suits LA’s premiere.Suits LA introduces a string of new characters, including one that may have officially solved the oldest Mike Ross mystery. Series creator Aaron Korsh is back with a brand new show that was born out of Suits’ surprise streaming resurgence in 2023. Ideally, resurrecting the legal drama would have featured the original crew of Pearson, Hardman as the main cast. However, that’s a bit difficult to do, considering Suits’ ending. Instead, Korsh assembles a new ensemble that is poised to dominate the West Coast’s entertainment law, led by Stephen Amell’s Ted Black.

Black may be the poster character of Suits LA, the same way Harvey Macht was in Suits, but those who love the USA Network series would know that the rest of the cast is as important. Joining Amell is a string of actors that will bring Black, Lane (and what it eventually becomes) to life. That includes Bryan Greenberg’s player, who is presented as Black’s protege, somewhat similar to the dynamic of Harvey and Mike. If a theory about his real identity is confirmed, however, Suits LA may have just solved the oldest mystery in Suits.
Bryan Greensberg’s Rick May Very Well Be Rick Sorkin
Rick Dodsen May Not Be Greensberg’s Character’s Real Name
Greeneberg’s character in Suits LA is named Rick Dodsen, and so far, he doesn’t have any established ties to the original series. Korsh attempts to connect the spinoff with Suits by revealing Black’s history with Harvey. That said, Greenberg’s place in the franchise could all change if he ends up actually being Rick Sorkin. For context, Suits’ main partnership started when Mike unintentionally impersonated one of the applicants to Harvey’s new associate. Donna was calling out Rick Sorkin, who was 5 minutes late to the meeting when Mike was forced to participate to escape the police.

The Suits Revival I’ve Wanted For Six Years Now Looks Completely Impossible
After learning about Gabriel Macht’s stance on his upcoming return as Harvey Specter, I think my dream Suits revival is totally impossible now.
Because Harvey decided then and there to take on Mike, despite not being an official lawyer, with the subsequent story of the drama following the pair’s team-up for the next seven seasons, Rick Sorkin became a forgotten identity in Suits. Korsh has proven that he is keen when it comes to details in his stories, he would have known that naming Greenberg’s character as Rick would spark some conversations, especially since much of the discussion about the legal drama has come from new viewers who binged Suits on streaming platforms, hence why Sorkin’s name would be easily recognizable.

Yet Another Connection To Suits
Regardless of how Suits LA performs critically and commercially, it is no secret that there was some kind of disappointment when it was confirmed to be a separate show instead of a direct continuation of the original project. Those who fell in love with Suits, both when it first aired on USA Network and when it found new life on streaming were invested because of Harvey, Mike, and the rest. Sadly, there are just a lot of hurdles to making Suits season 10, but Korsh can help entice people to check out the spinoff if there are known connections between it and its parent series.
While he doesn’t have an eidetic memory and is not nearly as confident, Rick isn’t exactly meek like the rest of the applicants that Donna had to sift through.
Making Greenberg’s character Rick Sorkin is a deep-cut reference to Suits. Beyond that, it also gives viewers a chance to get to know him, and perhaps even imagine what Harvey’s life would have been like if he hired him instead of Mike. While he doesn’t have an eidetic memory and is not nearly as confident, Rick isn’t exactly meek like the rest of the applicants that Donna had to sift through.
